Leeds has a lot to offer during winter, from festive events to cosy spots and beautiful attractions.  At this time of year the city sparkles as the streets come to life with Christmas Markets, cosy tipis, spectacular shows, twinkling lights, ice-skating, hot chocolates and traditional fairground rides.

Start by visiting the Leeds Christmas Market (Christkindelmarkt) held annually in Millennium Square, this German-style Christmas market has stalls selling handmade gifts, festive food, and drinks like mulled wine and hot chocolate. The cosy Alp Chalet makes it a great spot for a winter evening.

Follow up with Ice Skating at Ice Cube Leeds.  Millennium Square often hosts Ice Cube, an outdoor ice rink that usually opens from late January to February. It’s a fun activity for all ages, with a festive atmosphere and music.

Catch a Show at Leeds Playhouse or City Varieties Music Hall.  Leeds Playhouse and City Varieties Music Hall offer winter performances, including pantomimes, festive plays, and musicals. It’s a cosy indoor activity and a great way to enjoy local culture.
